Need help with guitar amp question please!!!!!?
ok I’m bout to buy a Carvin Legacy head which on the ebay listing says “Carvin Legacy B” and i want a marshall cab with 2 greenbacks and 2 vintage 30 celestions, however the listing on the cab says “1960A cab” now the question is…. do i need a marshall B cab? or whats the B and A mean? never owned a tube amp… done lots of research but nothing says anything about a “B head and an A cab” is that bad? does that mean different ohms? any help would be greatly appreciated 
“A” and “B” cabinets just refer to the style of the cabinet. It’s kind of become shorthand from the Marshall catalog.
An “A” cabinet is also referred to as a slant front cabinet. It’s normally the top cabinet in a full stack, or the one cabinet used in a half stack. Two speakers point forward, and two at an upward angle. When Jim Marshall came up with this, it was just to make the top of the speaker cabinet the same dimensions as the amp head. That’s all!
A “B” cabinet is also referred to as a straight front cabinet. It’s normally the bottom cabinet of a full stack. A few guitarists like them as the tops cabinet as well or in a half stack. Mick Ralphs of Bad Company and Fast Eddie Clark of Motorhead were proponents of using all “B” cabinets in their rig, because according to the the slightly larger cabinet volume gave better bass response.
The “A” and “B” have nothing to do with the speakers in the cabinet or the impedance. It’s just the construction of the cabinet.
