How can a great guitar player survive without high school?
I am getting better and better on guitar and my high school problems are getting bigger and bigger. I don’t know if I will still finish it. However, how can I survive as a great guitarist?
By the way, I’m not living in the USA, which means is not the country of all possibilities. I live in Europe.
Connections.
Whether you’re in the US or not, your talent is not the biggest indicator of success. You can take my word for it and learn the easy way, or go the route of thousands in the same boat and learn the hard way. Nashville for instance has a very short list of professionals who record much of what you hear on the radio (and not just country). As far as touring bands, who makes it has to do with connections connections connections. Talent is only a small fraction of what it takes to “make it.”
In other words, don’t quit high school. That’s not going to help you in any way shape or form. It’s not going to make you seem more dedicated to guitar. Rather, you’ll be seen as too lazy to focus on something. I make my living primarily from playing guitar and teaching guitar, and I’m more than happy that I graduated from both high school and a very good college.
