I have a 1977 Fender precision and very good condition ... is worth anything?
Hi Rick depends on the state, and wants enough! Many times what we believe to be in "good condition" can not be the case. Only a vintage dealer with experience can make this assessment. Ive had some people over the years who thought they had the offer real, only to discover that what they thought they were being filmed the exact year, but with tons of mods and a hodgepodge of topics that brought down the value considerably. They bought the wrong person, the search did not, and broke! 77 P low is not going anywhere for about $ 800.00 to $ 2000.00. There was this year who provided much, but thats usually on guitars that have a factory finish or special custom order guitars location where the number of products is extremely low. It's American Made, as it was not until the 1980s that Fender had done nothing abroad. Little bite of information ..... All wings, no matter the model, produced exclusively in Japan in 1985-1987. Too bad we did not start half of the 60's P-Bass, I've seen keep them going in the area of 7500.00 and more! Now ... to ensure you have a 77, Heres what you need to know. Since 1976, Wings of America had the serial numbers on the blade. An "S" is the prefix 1970. S7 + 5 digits or S8 + 5 digits is what you seek. These serial numbers were in the guitar in 1977 and 1978. If your interested in selling the guitar, Heres a link that might want to check the Outside. http://www.elderly.com/ older instruments is based in Lansing, Michigan.
