Neck width, string spacing and scale length are tailored to the individual player. Neck-thru guitars have a lot of sustain and the tonal properties of the wood used for the center column, which is usually maple. Therefore, most neck-thru guitars tend to have a very bright sound with lots of sustain.

Bass guitar is not normally a strummed instrument. It is usually given the bass line, and in some groups is considered interchangeable with the double bass. Bass notes are robust and solid. Chords ring with the full brilliance you expect from a well-crafted instrument.
